B-Mobile continues Giving Back
28th August 2011, Bandar Seri Begawan - More government, non-government agencies as well as individuals are donating time, efforts and monetary contributions to the part of community that is in need. Brunei is a country that is truly blessed for being a caring nation, with the orphans, the underprivileged and elderly taken care of by the welfare bodies as well as the private organizations and individual Samaritans.
B-Mobile with 30 of its employees with the help of Believe Youth Association (formerly Sounds of Hope) made their visits to 14 families in the Brunei Muara district and offered the families food supplies and other daily necessities in aid of the upcoming month of Syawal.
“This is our second CSR project for this year but it is a first time for us to personally come down and visit these families. As a reputable organization of this community, it is our belief that it is part of our responsibility to help those less fortunate and contribute to the common good said Mr See Wei Kie, ACTING CEO of B-Mobile that led the team at yesterday’s ‘B-Mobile caring for the community’ visit. He added that “Designated welfare bodies shouldn’t have to carry the sole responsibility of taking care of the less fortunate families and where possible, private organizations or individuals alike should also contribute however they can, whatever the size or means”.
B-Mobile has only been around for over 5 years and the mobile company although young, has already started to set up its own CSR team to look into ways of how B-Mobile can contribute back to the society and do good for the environment. It also recently started participating in the no plastic weekend and made ‘B-Mobile Goes Green’ recycle bag to support the Green initiative.
The team of 30 B-Mobile employees and 5 Believe Youth Association members went to visit families in Kg Tanah Jambu, Lambak, Anggerek Desa, Kg Masin and Mulaut as well as Kg Ayer. They started off from 8.30 in the morning and carried through until 5 pm in the afternoon.
“It has been a long day especially for our Muslim colleagues said Nurul Haniah Hj Jaafar, Senior Manager of Plc Relations, “but it is indeed a rewarding and humbling experience for each one of us as it feels good to help the families however way we can, especially in this month of ramadhan and with the Raya celebration just around the corner.”
Our B-Mobile employees have also taken great initiatives not just with their volunteering efforts but also their generous contributions by adding on to the food supplies, personal care items such as toiletries, school stuffs for the childrens and even clothing. Seeing the smiles on their faces makes it all more than worthwhile said one of the B-Mobile staffs.
This project is definitely not a one off project and B-Mobile will continue hopefully with many other different activities or events for times to come. It is hoped that good actions can encourage good motivations that reflects positively on both community and the nation.
